OPEN HEAD & FRAGMENTED MEMORIES
BUILDING SOLVAY, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM | 2015-2016
Imagine you could literally get into someone’s head... An artist’s head at a turning point in his career and his personal life ... You walk among fragments of his past, you decrypt on the walls of his skull ideas, fears, regrets, desires, hopes ... And then, dozens of faces start to appear, then hundreds, as if printed in layers on Denis Meyers’ retinas... And thousands of words which collide and interweave ...
Denis is a typographer and urban artist. Since the beginning of his career he has written and drawn the important and trivial moments of his life in a huge number of notebooks. On a whim, he started this huge project in 2015... A kind of exhausting and life-saving therapy that has led him to reproduce the pages of his notebooks over 20,000 km2 of an abandoned building in the heart of Brussels over many months. "Remember Souvenir" is a pharaonic art project, which is intended to be ephemeral. Just a few days after the last word will be tagged on a decrepit wall of this building, the whole complex will be destroyed.
